Your Only Community Non-Profit Provider of Hospice and Palliative Care
Serving patients in Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick, Newberry, and Saluda Counties since 1981.
Professional. Compassionate. At the Heart of All We Do.
As the area’s only non-profit hospice and palliative care organization, Care of the Piedmont is positioned to provide high-quality, professional and innovative inpatient, in-home, hospice and palliative care services to patients living in the Piedmont areas of South Carolina.
At its core, our organization focuses on what matters most: providing people from all walks of life the compassionate care they deserve.
It Starts with Empathy
To us, it’s simple: we treat and honor our patients and their family members the way we’d want to be treated. This is how we frame everything we do, and it’s only the foundation for the love and care we bring to those we serve.
For more than 40 years, we’ve earned the trust of more than 10,000 hospice and palliative care patients and their families through every step of their journey.
Together, with a team of highly qualified and deeply caring medical team and support staff, we seek to enrich the lives of those entrusted to our care.

Started By the Community. For the Community.
And still committed to serving the community.
As the area’s only non-profit hospice and palliative care organization for Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick, Newberry, and Saluda, we prioritize a community-first mindset.
Care of the Piedmont was founded in 1981 by local medical professionals who saw a growing need for compassionate and affordable hospice and palliative care.
Fast-forward more than 40 years later, our board of directors are still prominent local leaders, who put the needs of our region’s community members first. They have a thorough understanding of how to best serve our area, because they do life and business here, too.
It’s one of the many ways Care of the Piedmont stands apart from other for-profit hospice organizations in South Carolina.
And through the next forty years – and beyond – we promise to continue to prioritize the needs of our community above all else.
An Award-Winning Facility
Our 15-bed Hospice House is fully funded by generous donations from members of our community. This homelike setting provides dignified end-of-life care for hospice patients and respite for their family members in our beautiful, award-winning facility.
